What is Nutrition Counseling?
Nutrition counseling is a process designed to improve your overall health and wellness through the guidance of a nutrition counselor, usually a Registered Dietitian. The Registered Dietitian guides you in ways to improve your diet and nutrition habits to better your overall health. Nutrition counseling is ideal for people who want to make and maintain dietary changes. People with diabetes, heart problems, and other nutrition related issues greatly benefit from nutrition counseling.
What is Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT)?
Medical Nutrition Therapy is an essential component of comprehensive health care services. It is when a Registered Dietitian determines the nutrition diagnosis and provides nutrition education and counseling on how to implement a nutrition intervention. Individuals with a variety of conditions and illnesses can improve their health and quality of life by receiving medical nutrition therapy.
The goal with MNT is to improve the client's health and well being, and increase quality of life through decreased doctor visits, hospitalizations and reduced prescription drug use.

What is Integrative Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT)?
Integrative MNT is based on conventional medical nutrition therapy and in addition it takes the mind-body-spirit connection into account. The Integrative MNT approach taps into the body's innate ability to heal itself in conjunction with conventional medical therapies. It works to integrate evidence-based complementary treatments such as breath work (pranayama), mindful meditation, guided imagery, healing touch (Reiki), kundalini yoga, and music therapy (sound current) all of which have been shown through research that they can be effective. See our Nutrition Counseling Services.

What is Wellness & Nutrition Coaching?
Wellness and nutrition coaching is the process of creating your wellness vision and partnering with a registered dietitian and wellness coach to identify the steps needed to achieve that personal vision. There are several stages to the coaching process. It begins with an initial consult and a well-being assessment that leads to developing your own wellness vision. Just like financial planning, wellness planning guides you to assess your priorities and the steps needed to reach your ultimate wellness goals.
A three-month commitment is highly recommended in order to explore, learn and commit to regular weekly goals that will ultimately help you reach your 3-month goals, 6-month goals or year goals. The coaching process helps you draw on your strengths to live your best life and become a role model yourself in this journey called life. See our Wellness Packages.

Will health Insurance cover my nutrition visit?
It is important to check with your provider to determine if nutrition counseling is covered by your insurance plan. While some health insurance companies cover nutrition counseling, unfortunately many don't. We can provide you with a separate bill with all the necessary information and codes you need to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement, which will go directly to you. Some insurance companies allow nutrition service fees to go towards your deductible or you may opt to use your health savings account. Our policy is that payment for nutrition and wellness services be made prior to or at the time of service.
